Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins is an Mexican American sportscaster. She is an ESPN anchor for news and also hosts SportsNation occasionally. She began working for ESPN as a news anchor in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is a bilingual woman and has been since the age of nine. The ability to speak two languages helped her to get her first position at Univision, Miami. She worked with national producers on programs such as Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. The next position she was offered was reporter for sports at the CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009, she relocated from Texas to Rio Grande Valley where she became a news correspondent at KNVO TV 48 Univision. The stories she covered were about the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs in both Texas as well as Mexico. She was also often asked to fill in as anchors for the weather and sports. Deportes 23 was Univision Dallas affiliate and she assumed more responsibilities. She also wrote articles on the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason games, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. Besides this, she produced Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she also served as anchor. She was promoted to anchoring sports on Despierta America Deportes' morning show. In addition, she served as an anchor on sports for Primer Impacto, a magazine show on the UniMas Network and Contacto Deportivo. Antonietta Collins' grandparents were born in Veracruz Mexico. Her birth date was November 22nd on the 22nd of October, 1984 in Mexico City. There is an older sister. There is an older sibling. The couple divorced shortly after and in 1995 her mother remarried an architect from the naval profession called Fabio Fajardo who passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. On a trip, Antonietta stayed at the home of her sister in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sibling had recently gotten a new job. Antonietta was a senior high school student however, she was very aware of what she wanted to do in her future career. She visited Mount Union University in order to see if it was a good fit for her. It turned out that she enjoyed the university as well as the fact that it provided the degree she was looking for. Her high school graduation was in the spring of 2004 and was enrolled in media studies at the university. Mark Bergmann - her professor - was also the manager at WRMU (91.1 FM), where she belonged. He inspired her to be self-confident and his passion for journalism deeply influenced her. She in turn, strived to meet his standards and never failed him.
